Research Project Starting Next Week in the Makerspace

Hello Makerspace users!

Starting next week we will be conducting a research project that aims to understand the culture and impact of the TRU Library Makerspace. Through this research we hope to understand how the Makerspace relates to the goals of the Library and the University. We also hope to find ideas for improving and sustaining the Makerspace. Publishing these results will help give guidance to other institutions creating their own Makerspaces.

As a part of this project, we will be conducting a survey, observations, and interviews with Makerspace users. If you decide to participate in the survey, you will be given a flier with a QR code that you can scan to access the survey. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

During the observations, a researcher will be present in the Makerspace and may observe you while you work on your projects. The researcher may also approach you and ask if you would be willing to participate in an interview. If you decide to participate in the interview, a researcher will explain the study in more detail and will take approximately 10 minutes as well. Your participation in the interview is completely voluntary.

We appreciate your time and willingness to participate in this study. If you have any questions or would like to know more about the study, please feel free to reach out to us.
