Our Land Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge the Secwepemc, who today form a Nation of 17 Bands, that have called this home since time immemorial. We are grateful for their care of this land, their guidance, and their company which leads to our lively and knowledge-filled campus.

We respectfully acknowledge that these lands have always been a place where teaching, learning, and making have happened and feel honoured to be allowed to learn, play and make on these lands. We hope through our actions within Makerspace to honour the gift of being here through putting actionable work towards reconciliation.

We would like to acknowledge that TRU’s Makerspace is located in Tk’emlups te Secwepemc territory, situated in the southern interior of British Columbia within the unceded traditional lands of the Secwepemc Nation.

We would also like to acknowledge that the region TRU serves also extends into T’exelc territory (Williams Lake campus) within Secwépemc’ulucw and the territories of the St’át’imc, Nlaka’pamux, Tŝilhqot’in, Nuxalk, and Dakelh, and Métis communities within these territories.
