Show Up and Make Co-Working Sessions

Show Up and Make! are weekly drop-in times when students, staff, and faculty can work on projects or learn a skill in a collaborative and supportive environment. Whether you’re a student working on a cool project, a staff member exploring new skills, or a faculty member applying a new technology to your research, these sessions are meant for you.

No experience? No problem! Our Makerspace librarian and staff are here to help you get started and provide feedback. Remember, in the Makerspace, you’re the captain of your learning journey – we’re just here to help you navigate!

What to Expect:

  • Weekly 90-minute drop-in sessions (check our calendar for the latest times)
  • Possible quick intros featuring awesome projects or mind-blowing knowledge
  • Time to work on your own projects or explore our tutorials
  • One-on-one support from our Makerspace Librarian
  • Support from the Makerspace Librarian and Makerspace staff
  • A quick wrap-up to share your triumphs (or hilarious failures – we celebrate those too!) and to think about next steps

Examples of Types of Projects:

  • Sewing and Textiles (Fashion designers, upcyclers, and sustainability champions, we see you!)
  • Artificial Intelligence (explore image and text generation models )
  • 3D Design, Scanning, and Printing (physical to digital and vice-versa)
  • Audio Recording (Start that podcast you’ve been dreaming about)
  • Virtual Reality (Build your own digital world)
  • Crafting (please don’t spill any glitter though)
  • Computer Prototyping (just don’t eat this Raspberry Pi)
  • Digital Making
  • And more!

  • Drop in whenever you like – no pressure to attend every week
  • Registration isn’t required, but it helps us plan (and make sure we have enough coffee!)

Skill Share Workshops

Skill Share Workshops are short, hands-on sessions where you learn the basics of a technology or method. Right now we are offering workshops on 3D Printing and Collaborating with Artificial Intelligence, but we’re planning workshops that cover a wide range of topics, from soldering to traditional crafts.

What to Expect:

  • 1-2 hours in length
  • No experience necessary
  • Focus on hands-on learning
  • Chance to work on your own ideas or follow along with provided examples
