As a Makerspace Student Sustainability Champion, you will have the opportunity to support individuals and groups working on sustainability initiatives, building relationships, and implementing programming that increases the capacity of the TRU Library Makerspace to support environmental and social sustainability (defined here as supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus).

This is a unique opportunity to help make a positive impact on your community while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Depending on your experience and interests, you may work with groups focused on environmental sustainability or social sustainability, including diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

Your responsibilities will include working with the Makerspace Librarian to develop relationships, build infrastructure, and implement programming that supports environmental and social sustainability efforts at TRU Library Makerspace. This will involve reaching out to student clubs and other TRU groups to determine how we can best support their goals, developing infrastructure and communications (e.g., websites, social media), and supporting the other grant goals, including creating a Tool Library and a Fiber Bank. Depending on the candidate, there may also be opportunities to plan and run workshops, as well as assist with events and workshops.

Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or a demonstrated interest in environmental or social sustainability.
  • A passion for working with others, supporting their goals, and building community.
  • An interest in design, making, creation, crafting, prototyping, or related activities.
  • An interest in getting work done and having a meaningful impact on your community.
