We’re Hiring Makerspace Student Ambassadors for September, 2024! (CLOSED)

The TRU Library Makerspace is seeking four passionate and creative individuals to join our team as Student Makerspace Ambassadors for September to December 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive culture within the Makerspace while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

The ideal candidate for Student Makerspace Ambassador is someone who is passionate about learning, making, and helping others. They should have a genuine enthusiasm for education and a desire to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all users, regardless of their experience or confidence level.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engaging orientations and tours to new users and small groups.
  • Assist learners in getting started with various tools and technologies, troubleshoot issues, and encourage hands-on learning.
  • Collaborate with Makerspace staff to support events, workshops, and other activities.
  • Assist the Makerspace Librarian and staff as required, following all directions and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • 4 hours of shifts per week, in either a 4-hour or a 2-hour block
  • 4-hours of training at the start of the semester (dates to be determined)
  • Up to 8 hours of other events and meetings during the term (dates to be determined)

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for education and a genuine desire to help students, staff, and faculty explore their creative potential through active and experiential learning.
  • Passion for making, design, technology, programming, crafting, prototyping, or related fields (specific technical expertise is not required).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
  • Enrolment as a full-time student (minimum 9 credits) at TRU during the appointed semester, with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
